Don’t know if anyone knows of Numis Network or not but this past Saturday here in Sacramento, Ca – The team put on an event to let more of the “Killa Kali’s” in on what Numis is and some easy duplicatable training to do right now after you get started… I know most people get hyped up after they join a new mlm or company, then sit there wondering… “now what?” I will admit I was the same way. More and more people are becoming aware of this newbie fate and stepping up as leaders to training these new young bucks what exactly to do when you get started with Numis.

But right now I am going to show you a video from the training that Ray Higdon (the only 6 star in Numis) did for us that day: Depending on how many people are watching this, it might be slow (its on my server) BUT be patient it is a great presentation.

Does the company have the right systems in place?

How fast is it growing?

Most Common Mistake

So what is the number one mistake most network marketers make? It’s talking too much about their opportunity!

So what does it mean to talk too much? This is the most common mistake that I see in network marketers. You attend a presentation, hear from a great speaker on how much money you are going to make and come out of that meeting fired up and ready to sign up the world! So you set meetings or start calling people on the phone and telling them how excited you are about this new opportunity and how you and they are going to make a crap load of money only to get rejected by your supposed friends and or family members.

There are a couple things wrong with this approach. Number one, you do not have the information to even be discussing the opportunity if you have only been to one presentation and two, whatever you say or do is absorbed and analyzed by the person you are talking to as exactly what they have to do to build the business and if you are bending their ear for 30 minutes or more, they know they do NOT want to do that!

So, what should your approach be? It is certainly a good idea to tell your friends and family members what you are doing but it’s a much better approach to stay vague about it and talk to them for less than 10 minutes. One thing you may try is talk with the person that sponsored you and get him/her to agree to help you with your prospects. That way, you can tell your friends, family members and any prospects that you don’t know everything about it but your friend can fill in the details. Another way is to get them to a presentation like you attended. A great, non-threatening way is to say “Look, I respect you, I think you respect me, come to this meeting and if you like it, Great, but if not, no big deal!”

Who To Approach and How

Who should you approach? It would be easy to say, EVERYONE, however, that is probably not the case. I look for positive, like minded individuals that I actually want to work with. You most certainly want to tell your friends, family or any lead you are generating, about what you are doing but again, do not chase, beg or bug them, just let them know what you are doing so they know. If you are in a fast growing network marketing company, there will be instances when people join AFTER you have joined as they did not know you were in it already. I have personally had this happen to me many times so DO NOT make this mistake!

So, how to approach people about your opportunity? Do not overload them with information or your excitement. It should almost be like fishing. Throw some bait out there and see if they bite. Ask them how they are doing and when they ask you how you are doing you might say something like: “I’m doing great, I’m working on this new project that is really amazing, oh, by the way, how are your kids?” Dropping a line like that might illicit them asking you for more information. Be prepared to answer them with another brief sentence or two about your opportunity. You do NOT want to appear like you are pushing it, but, as they become more intrigued you can share a little more but be very careful not to go in for the kill too quickly. If you want a really, really good book on networking, I highly recommend Bob Burg’s Endless Referrals, which, Amazon has on sale here – Endless Referrals, Third Edition Just don’t “throw up” your opportunity on people.

Overcoming Objections

You’re involved in a pyramid scheme! Only the people at the top make money! I don’t know anyone! I am dead broke and can’t afford it!

Have you ever heard any of those objections? If you are in network marketing I bet you have heard them many, many times! So let’s discuss overcoming these most common objections.

You have a couple approaches to the “You’re involved in a pyramid scheme” objection. Here are a few answers that may help:

- Do you say that out of personal experience or sheer ignorance?

- Do you work for someone? Ever notice how the owner makes more than the managers that make more than the supervisors that make more than the employees that make more than the janitor? If you drew that out graphically, THAT would be a pyramid! Don’t take my word for out, some gentlemen you make have heard of; Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki, wrote a book on it and said this exact thing. In fact, in a recent interview Donald Trump said that if he had to do it over he would have done a network marketing company! And how about the richest man in the world, Warren Buffet, buying a network marketing company (pampered chef) for $400 million! I don’t know about you, but I suspect those guys know a little more about money than I do.

- Yeah, you are right; this may not be for you.

Now, how about that last response? That is known as the takeaway and that will allow you to never get too stressed over network marketing. It is your ace in the hole. The second biggest mistake made by network marketers is spending too much time on the wrong people!

Now, the second objection of “Only the people at the top make money” is pure hogwash. It’s how hard are you willing to work. You can partner up with me in my primary business and do much better than me or worse than me or do absolutely nothing at all.

The third objection of “I don’t know anyone” is an easy one to overcome. Have them immediately pull out their cell phone and ask themselves for each individual in the phone if they are interested in receiving the benefit of whatever product you are promoting and or making extra money on the side. They should be able to come up with at least thirty people.

The fourth objection of “I can’t afford it” may be a little tougher but in probably 90% of the times, it is not the true objection. Do they go to Starbucks everyday? Do they buy lotto tickets? Do they go out to eat all the time? Do any of those activities TRULY give them an opportunity to possibly retire early? The other way to approach this, and the one that I prefer, is to ask them if they had planned on being broke when they reached the age they were at. Because if they are broke doing what they are doing, isn’t it time for them to at least TRY something different? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Keep it real with people.

Keeping the Faith

Now, you have to realize that network marketing is one of the ONLY businesses out there that does not have a 5 or 10 year plan to retire, you can legitimately be wealthy after only 1 or 3 years in the right company. And that is without a college degree, very much risk and building it part time! If you work any network marketing company for any length of time you are going to hold meetings where not one person shows up. You are going to get a whole lot of people tell you that you are crazy and or it is a scheme and tell you NO. So what! If you have a bad day at work do you go in the next day? You probably do and what is bad is the job probably has a 30 year retirement plan that will pay you peanuts when you are too old to work anymore!

There are a lot of great books out there for keeping the faith. One of my favorites is Rhonda Byrne’s, The Secret, which, you can pick up here from Amazon - The Secret . I imagine that a lot of you have read this one already and if you have, READ IT AGAIN!

One surefire way to keep the faith is to MAKE MONEY! It is so important for you to keep in contact with your team via email, phone, or whatever means is best for you and your team. Do for them and they will, naturally, want to do for you.

So let’s start off with what really is Social Media Marketing.

Wikipedia says, “Social media is online content created by people using highly accessible and scalable publishing technologies. Social media is a shift in how people discover, read and share news, information and content; it’s a fusion of sociology and technology, transforming monologues (one to many) into dialogues (many to many) and is the democratization of information, transforming people from content readers into publishers. Social media has become extremely popular because it allows people to connect in the online world to form relationships for personal, political and business use.”

Social Media Marketing has actually been around for a while but it wasn’t until the past few years were it really started to take off. Actually right now we are still at the beginning stages of Social Media Marketing. If you remember several years back when MySpace started up you would know that most of the people on it were teens, music artists, and pedophiles. But then some savvy business people got the idea that there was a market out there on MySpace…people that they could reach often and easy. So they made their MySpace profile page and got there message out there.

Soon famous business people like Robert Allen, Anthony Robbins, and Brian Tracy started putting up their profiles and getting there message out…and guess what?? It was working!! There were able to create a huge following on MySpace and continuously get their message out to the masses.

During the same time many people were using video sites like YouTube and Viddler to get their message out. This was better because it was more interactive and you could actually sit there and watch someone talk about leadership, business techniques, and or business opportunities rather than just read about them.

Shortly after MySpace came Facebook. This was more professional and less SPAMMY than MySpace. Many business people started to switch over to Facebook and leave MySpace behind. I feel that you are going to always have people that love MySpace and people that love Facebook so why not market on both sites? So Facebook turned out to be a great site for Social Media Marketing.

Then came the concept of micro-blogging with Twitter. I was very unsure as to how to use this with my Social Media Marketing strategies but with some great webinars and personal studying I found a great way to use this to build my business.

Mainly, the core ideas of social media marketing are collaborating, sharing, “pulling” content, and listening to customers. These ideas are here to stay because they being a new light to marketing. You will see more and more companies switching over from traditional marketing to social media marketing. Therefore, you need to implement a plan to leverage the right kinds of social media now. The following describes things that every business can do to take advantage of the social media trend:

1. Publish Content — no matter what kind of company you are, you should be producing content. Maybe you already have some content produced in-house, such as webinars, whitepapers, videos, or articles written by your executives. If not, you should consider creating them. It might make sense for you to start a blog. Then take all of this content and make sure it’s utilized on relevant social media sites. You will be surprised how many customers will interact with your brand as a result.

2. Monitor Published Content — you should be looking to see what content is actually published. You can easily measure this on sites like Technorati, Google BlogSearch, and Digg to see what content is published and linking back to your site. In addition, you should monitor what kind of information your competitors are posting and publishing.

3. Monitor Your Feedback — hopefully, some of your customers are saying good things about you via the social media-sphere. Take that information and highlight it on your website. Use it to inform your sales team. Learn from it. Many companies improve their services by listening to what their customers are saying in social media. It’s also a great way to monitor the effectiveness of your PR efforts.

4. Measure Your Inbound Links — Remember all the content that you published on the social media-sphere? Now all those people are linking back to your site, happily consuming your content. Well, those incoming links are one of the best ways to improve your search-engine rankings. Understanding who is linking back to your site, and from where, is incredibly powerful information. Some companies are even able to measure the number of visitors, leads, and customers they obtain as a result of their social media marketing efforts.

5. Make Your Site “Social Media–Friendly” — If you are posting content on your website and on other sites, too, then you need to make sure it’s social media–friendly. In other words, can people email it? Can they create an RSS feed from it? Can they bookmark it? Can they bookmark it with Del.ic.io.us? Can they share it? Can they “Digg” it? Add these little icons next to your content, and your social media buzz will increase greatly.

6. Learn About Your Customers — For a market researcher, the social media-sphere is a welcomed innovation for networking and communication. You can zero-in on groups of people with common interests. For example, let’s say I like to collect rare furniture from the 1970s. There is probably a Facebook group out there for people like me, where we can chat and share information. What if you are a furniture retailer and could observe our group? What motivates us? What are we looking for? What companies do we like? What marketplaces do we buy from? You might consider building community forums on your own website for your customers to interact with one another.

7. Advertise In Social Media — I know, it’s a contradiction to “push” advertisements at people when they are in this collaborative environment. But actually, it works. Why do you think Facebook was valued at $1 billion recently? It is an advertiser’s true delight. If you can serve ads to people who fit into a very specific niche profile, then you no longer have the waste associated with traditional media. Let’s say my company creates extra-large dog collars. To make the most effective use of my media dollars, I would probably not want to run a TV commercial. But if I could find a group of people on MySpace who owns St. Bernards and Great Danes and target banner ads to them, I might actually have some success. Or if I was trying to target IT professionals who use AJAX and Ruby on Rails, running ads on LinkedIn targeted by keywords might be beneficial. True, this is imposing the old “push” model upon the new media, but the “hybrid” model can also be extremely effective. Sometimes it feels good to break the rules.

8. Create Your Own Social Media Application — Many social networks run on open platforms, meaning that anyone with programming skills can create applications that fit within their network. These can be anything from mini websites to widgets to mashups that combine one or more open technologies. Companies are using these tools to distribute their messages through a social context. For example, Netflix could create a widget that sends a message to all your Facebook friends asking them to “Compare Movie Tastes.” As a (not so avid) jogger, I sometimes use this handy Google “pedometer” mash-up that allows me to plot out my course and see how far I’ve run. (Note: This probably wasn’t created by Google, and there’s no reason why it couldn’t be sponsored by Reebok or New Balance.) Last but not least, some companies go so far as to create their very own branded social networking sites. These sites create an entire community around a company’s brand.

This is a horrible thing to have happen to a person, especially when that person actually believes it. You know, your beliefs can basically shaped how you interact with people.
And that is such a huge piece of knowledge to get at in an intuitive sense. That if you believe something, it is going to shape how you interact with people. So, if your belief structure and your belief systems are: “I can’t do this, I suck!” – “You know, I’m not good enough to create success.” – or you know — “Nobody ever believed in me, I can’t do this — what have I ever done?” — that is going to shape how you interact with people.

I think that there’s this common theme that has really been touched upon… the focus is that this is about growth. That all the people who are reading this right now are all people who at one point couldn’t sponsor someone if their life depended on it. That we actually repel the people away from us. I remember when I first got in this industry, I was like a repellent. I was not an attractor… I was a repellent… everybody came in my presence wanted to run. That’s how I was when I first got into this industry.

I didn’t even realize the subconscious beliefs of what was happening… I didn’t realize what it was that I was putting off to people. I didn’t realize that it was all these subconscious things that were going on within me that were causing me to push people away, that were causing me to be needy… causing me to be dependent.

But the general theme of where I am going today and what I want for you is to change the focus.

Let’s have your focus actually start looking inward.

Let’s change your focus from being ‘out here’ to this thing over there, or that thing, or this prospect, or what’s happening in life–let’s just stop that right now. As you’re reading this, you’re just ‘stopping’ your focus being anything else outside of you. You’re just stopping your focus being anywhere else–and your focus and where your attention is being turned to, and where it’s being re-directed to, is inward.

All of a sudden you’re looking inward and your attention is just starting to settle inside of you so that you can just let your feelings start to come up. You can let whatever is going on inside of you right now just start to come up. Because what I didn’t realize is that all the things that were happening in my life was affecting my ability to communicate. They were affecting my ability to be attractive.

I didn’t realize that if something was going on in my life that I wasn’t dealing with… like, let’s say I just broke up with my boyfriend, and I’m miserable–I’m pissed, I’m sad, I’m depressed–and I’m not dealing with this… all of a sudden there is all of these things going on. There’s all these emotions, there’s these beliefs, there’s these thoughts… and I’m just trying to push them all away and go talk to this prospect–what do you think on a subconscious level is really going to start being communicated to that prospect?

You think they’re going to be able to pick up on some of the negativity, on some of the things that are happening within me that are possibly skewing how I communicate or possibly skewing how I come across to people?

The answer is, of course they are. That just doesn’t work that way with what’s going on in your life now… that actually works that way with everything that’s ever gone on in your life if you haven’t dealt with it.

So our kid is running around bouncing off the walls, he spills his milk, we turn around and we say– “What did you do!? Why did you do that!?” We don’t even realize it, it’s a subconscious thing. But you want to know the message being communicated right there?

“YOU’RE bad.” We’re not saying “You’re bad”, but guess what’s being communicated on a subconscious emotional level? You…are…bad. And is it any wonder that if that continues for years, and years, and years in early childhood that a kid might form the perception of themselves that THEY are bad.

These types of things are, literally, if you look at what’s happening in our society right now, there’s a lot of lost-ness. There’s drug abuse, there’s this, there’s that –where do these come from? Why are people hurting, why are they suffering? Why do they think they’re so bad? Why don’t they value their life? Why don’t they value other people? Why don’t they care about themselves?

And this is where it comes from… it comes from this… these ethereal, emotional communications that happen all the time–that we don’t even realize that we go through, and that we grow up with, and I’m sure EVERY ONE of us knows exactly what I’m talking about right now. We get it, we understand it, we went through things growing up and all this stuff that could have formed core beliefs about ourselves.

This isn’t about letting those core beliefs predominate. This isn’t about, oh ‘Somebody did this to me’, ‘Somebody did that to me’, ‘I’m justified to have this belief about myself–I’m justified to have these beliefs about myself’. Because guess what? If I was wasting my life feeling like ‘Oh, no, I was the Bad Kid…’ and feeling like the Victim, and just wanting justification to continue my beliefs… I’d be… I’d be DUMB. The jokes not on them, the joke is on ME.

We are responsible.

‘Cause at the end of the day, it is US who chooses what we believe. It is US who chooses whether we want to give reality to feeling bad, or feeling like we’re unworthy, or feeling like we’re not good enough; it is US that gives reality to that. So the JOKE is on us; no one else.

When you know who you are, and when you’re really comfortable with who you are, you are naturally confident.

That ever-elusive thing called ‘posture’?

You know we hear it all the time in this industry, it’s called ‘posture’. Posture, posture, posture. What is posture? When somebody’s comfortable with who they are, they have ‘posture’, They have confidence. They naturally just come across to people in a certain way… so the message that I think I have now is not focused on the outside… but let’s teach people how to really create success in this industry… let’s teach people how to really be sponsoring geniuses, and be able to attract people to them–not by learning techniques, but by learning more about who they are. By learning more about who they are, then naturally they can become empowered.

There is this mystery that makes us HUMAN. And it’s such a beautiful mystery–it’s such an inspiring mystery–it’s so majestic that when I saw that, it was like I have this natural love for life. I have a love for other people, I have a love for myself, I have a LOVE. And that’s what I carry forward. And that love is really a form of energy. And that energy is empowering. And now, I can sit down in front of a computer, and I’ve got all this energy, so you know what–I’m gonna’ excel! I’m gonna’ learn marketing, I’m gonna’ learn ads, when I get on the phone and I’m talking to somebody, they hear energy, they hear passion and what I’m worth, they hear all this stuff. But when you trace it back to it’s source, what it is, is the fact that I have a love for myself, I have a love for life. And that’s the source, really, of the growth.
