Online Marketing

Every day of every year, thousands upon thousands of searches are performed on the Internet in search of “home-based business ideas”. Network marketing opportunities in wellness, travel, legGlobal Resorts Networkal services, financial services and more will appear in the search results. Making a final choice can be simplified by knowing how to best evaluate the various aspects.

How to evaluate a network marketing company…

Before choosing to spend money, time and effort on a startup business, do not fail to perform a bit of due diligence on the company. What do you know about the products? What do you know about the corporate leadership? Is the company new or well-established? What is the compensation plan? What are the costs associated with becoming a distributor?

While it is tempting to enroll with the company that is shiny and new, consider that you may have a better experience with the company that is at least two years old. This is because a company of this age will have established some sort of reputation with local Better Business Bureaus, with product customers and with their distributor network. You can also easily locate earnings reports, press releases and news stories on the Internet about the company. This is not to say that new companies should be absolutely avoided; however, the lack of a track record simply spells more risk for the new business owner. Experienced networkers looking to expand may be more suited to these types of companies.

Evaluate the Products or Services

Once you have established that the company looks solid financially, and has quality leadership in place, you want to honestly examine the products and services that you would potentially represent. Are these products trendy or traditional? Would you purchase or use the products even if you are not a distributor? How are the products packaged? Are the products priced fairly for the marketplace? You must honestly answer all these questions to your own satisfaction. After all, your passion for the products and services will help to see you through inevitable rough spots as you build your new distributor network.

Evaluate the compensation Plan

Understanding MLM compensation plans can be challenging. There are binary plans, unilevel plans, one ups, to ups and more. If you don’t understand how you will be compensated for your time and effort, your potential sponsor should be able to break it down into the most simple terms. Don’t be afraid to ask for clarification.

Evaluate the business model

A business that will last long term will be built on a foundation of satisfied, repeat customers. If your review of the commission structure in compensation plan reveals a company philosophy that is more focused on recruiting distributors than selling quality products to happy consumers, this should be a red flag. Any company operating in this manner is walking a fine line between ethical and unethical. In fact, this type of behavior has led to legal action being taken and companies being shut down. You do not want to be associated with a company structure such as this.

A legitimate network marketing business opportunity will be built on a foundation of repeat customers and valued distributors. These two things come as a result of high quality products and services priced correctly for the marketplace and a company that stands behind the products and its distributor network.
