The Art Of Detachment and Learning To Just Let It Go…

For myself, in my own experience, when I first came into this industry… I was focused on creating wealth.

Focused on what can I get and how much money can I make… focusing on all these external things, and it made me attached to the outcome of what I was doing.  So if I was talking to a prospect, and let’s say something didn’t turn out the way I thought it should have, or they didn’t join me in business — I would get emotionally… well, a little upset.  You know, “why did that happen?”, “how come this person didn’t join me?”, or “what did I do wrong?” and kind of always grasping for something, always needing something to make me successful, or to make me happy, or to make me fulfilled. I think that that’s one of the things that so many people, when they first come into this industry, really don’t understand… is that you have to be detached from the outcome.

I hope that definitely covers the importance of really detaching… and again, that feel behind the message of ‘letting go’… of having it not be the outcome that we’re after. Because here we are in an industry where everything happens based on recruiting and all these people coming into your business, and here we are asking you to “Hey, let it all go!  Just let it go!  Don’t worry about it!”.  And when you do that, it’ll happen so much more!  But the cool thing about language, is that language makes the most sense in total paradoxes, I’ve really found that.  You might have heard the expression that you have to ‘surrender to gain freedom’, you have to let go to really ‘have it all’.  And that if you hang on to everything really tight, you really don’t have anything at all, because it’s all so flimsy; it can be taken from us at any point at any time, anyway.

I hope all of you were really just freeing yourself more by listening and NOT being attached to the outcomes so that you can really just focus on the joy, what’s really going on here, and know that if I’m just doing things right–and I’m just coming from a place of confidence and empowerment within myself–it’s just very natural that people are going to be attracted to me and want to do business with me and want to work with me, and that when I’m communicating value to people, they’re going to see it and want to reciprocate with partnering up…

So like I said in the video, leave your comments below and let me know what you think OR don’t think…!

Toki – Thanks for this. I often have trouble remaining in the present moment. My mind starts projecting and then its nothing but trouble. Letting go is an art I will continue to try to perfeect.

I also love your comment on verbal paradox. I have always found the same thing.

Looking forward to more great stuff!

Toki, this was a lesson I had to learn myself over the years. Some will, some won’t, so what, someone’s waiting!

As professionals in the direct sales industry, it is so important that we do as you say…detach from the outcome. The right people will be attracted to us and as we continue to provide value, there is no limit to what we can accomplish.

    Great post!

Wow. Toki, this is exactly what I needed to hear. So often I would get discouraged or letdown when someone doesn’t want to join me and my team, or my business, or whatever! “It’s not personal” — presto! All the negative emotions are gone instantly when you understand that, ok, now go help someone out.

And it is so true, when you honestly care for, and help people with no expectation of a returned favor, man good things seem to find you :)

    Love it!

Yes, Toki…true this is. It’ll all fall into place when you continue to provide value. We’re not talking about giving away the farm now. This is a business right?!

But, this goes for anything in life, business, relationships, etc…

Thanks for reminding us that the reciprocation and wealth aspect IS a byproduct of us choosing to provide value! It WILL come if we continue to allow it in…period.
